phoebe's dedication

"Together with your parents who love you dearly

And this people who care about the
outcome of your faith, I dedicate you to God,

Surrendering together with them all
worldly claim upon your life

In the hope that you will belong wholly to the Lord,
forever."

many thanks to jenny rigney for taking these pictures.

I love baby dedications. They always help me to re-focus that I'm am these kids' caregiver...not their owner.

Precious pictures and ohmygoodness, her blue eyes!

Dear Jenna,

Much has happened since I checked in last! Wow! Congratulations! What a lovely daughter! Yes, she has a gorgeous face! I hope you are well and adjusting by God's grace to a growing family! (I'm going to whisper a prayer NOW!)

Phoebe has been a favorite name ever since I heard Phoebe Snow sing way back when! She wrote and performed "Poetry Man" way back before "Queen Latifah. I was taken back when I heard it recently redone by Q.T. (Am I showing my age or what!? I actually had a few LPs by Phoebe!) Phoebe Snow's original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5AaNLyFpoI

Blessings to you and your family as you grow up into Christ!

"...but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love."
Ephesians 4:15,16

Sorry for comment clutter!

Jenna-
I'm back adding clutter, adding to my previous long comment or making up for rarely commenting.
I was washing up some supper dishes and I felt my face get hot with embarrassment. I mentioned Phoebe Snow with no regard for the Phoebe named in the Bible! I said that when I heard Phoebe Snow was the first I'd heard the name "Phoebe". True. It was years after Phoebe's "Poetry Man" that I knew God had called me to Himself and I cared about the Bible or knew Phoebe was a Bible name!
So how did you decide on the name. (Please forgive me if you've already said how?)
I was reminded of when we named our daughter, Tabitha. A visiting pastor thought we had named her after a t.v. show called "Bewitched". In that show, Samantha Stevens had a daughter witch named Tabitha. We had actually named our daughter after the "Tabitha" in Acts 9:36-43.
Okay.
Blessings.
Signing out.

thanks, everyone, with your sweet comments.

laurie,
i don't know how we came upon phoebe. i like p-names. penelope. piper. philthecarl. ;) actually, our jillian was "phoebe" for the first 24 hours of her life. and then we decided that we better go with the original plan of jillian. i always felt a little sad that we didn't have a "phoebe" and then we got a little surprise on feb 14 2009: a positive pregnancy test?!!! i thought it was a boy. i KNEW it was a boy. it was a girl. we named her phoebe. coincidentally, we love the meaning (radiant, light) and we are SO glad to finally have a Biblical name. no worries on the pop culture ref. there is no condemnation for that. and, btw, i love your fun comments on 22 words or mortifyme or here. blessings to you!
