buttermint

Am I the only one who thinks Lifesavers destroyed themselves when they discontinued the Buttermint flavor? My mouth is watering remembering such goodness and I haven't had one for 20 years. I think I'm upset. Do any of you even remember Buttermint? Anyone???

Yeah i remember it but was never very keen on the buttermint. It's the pineapple in the 5-flavor variety pack that I go for. Always wished they'd make a whole roll of just the pineapple. I've fantasized that someone who truly loved me would buy a bunch of variety packs and put all the pineapple ones together in a jar as a gift. Cherry lifesavers used to be our family's standard church candy --- you know, the candy that comes out for passing down the pew when the sermon starts?... That is, it was when it was available in the roll. Do they even make rolls anymore? I've only found any lifesavers available in the large bags of individually wrapped candies. What a shame. I'm also still upset that they moved the plant from Holland Michigan to Canada. If you were near the plant when they were making them in Holland, you could taste the sweetness in the air.

btw, was going to email you, but since I'm just a lurker, don't have your address....

Never heard of buttermint, sorry. I love the butter rum flavor! Yum!

No, but butter and mint. Ummm!
I know just how you feel! I used to be able to get vanilla mint gum which was delightful, but my favorite has been discontinued.
I bought some butter rum lifesavers for old time's sake since my Grandma always had them in her purse, but they just didn't quite taste like I remember.
Buttermint does sound like a serious mouth watering combo!

I don't recall Buttermint. Are you sure you didn't just combine a Butter Rum with a Pep-O-Mint to come up with your own flavor?

If I'm not mistaken, buttermints are those little pastel-colored things served at wedding receptions and graduation parties.

Lee! I can't believe I remember something from the 80s that YOU don't remember. Oh well. Something had to get by you.

I gotta help keep the memory of Buttermint Lifesavers alive. It's me and that 33rd commenter. Not even on Wiki!!!

I remember them! My grandma always busted them out at church. I wish they would bring back buttermint and the old five flavor lifesavers.

I REMEMBER Buttermint Lifesavers! They were the BEST ever! I'm surprised more people don't remember. Nothing like Butter Rum. I was craving them tonight and realized I hadn't seen them in stores in years so I googled them and was sad to see they're discontinued. They were light yellow and I think they were in a mint green wrapper. I ate them ALL the time when I was a kid. Wish we could still buy them.

I remember, and I loved them! There was a diner here which sold them at the counter where you paid your bill. My mom always bought me a roll when we were paying.

I loved butter mint Life Savers!

Yes, yes, yes! I was looking for proof that buttermint was a flavor (my hands down favorite). Everyone on my FB insists it was butter rum and that I must be confused. I first found them in the Christmas Storybook I got from Santa every year and then in the early 80's I could by them by the register in stores.

My husband and I owned a Candy Kitchen and my love of the buttermint lifesavers inspired one of our popular truffles . . . you got it . . . white chocolate buttermint.

Yessss! Wish they would do a re-release of these and the swirl lollipops. Two of my favorites!

They were called Buttercream Mint! And yes they were my favorite and I can’t find them anymore. They tasted just like wedding cream mints. They sold them in my high school store and I ate through all four years of high school during class.

See if you can find Murray Mints from the UK... verrrrrrt similar!

I am 52 years old and still talk about missing them. I would spend most of my paper route money on them in Jr High.

OMG...very sad to find out they are no longer available! Thought of them tonight because of St.Nick..used to get them in our stockings! I was able however, to at least find my runner up...Butter Rum. Glad I also ran into this blog to see others have similar fond memories of the candy...

Yep. I certainly do! Found this blog post by searching (yet again) to see if any company has come up with a replacement.

They were hard to find in my area but there was liquor store around the corner where I originally found them in 1988/1989 (guess I was late to the game). Then when I moved (12/1992) the mobile station that I never went to had them. I would drive over there just to buy a few rolls.

Let's all bombard Lifesavers with requests to bring them back. Also the swirly suckers/lollipops someone mentioned above. I really liked those too.

the buttermint were my favorite flavor. I wish they would bring them back!

I have been searching for buttermint for years hoping they got smart and brought them back. I get the wintergreen by the huge bag and would do the same with the buttermint.

And Lifesavers used to have their hard candy version of them and they were AMAZING!!!!!
