and she has a name

We've been known to change our kids' names (even after coming home from the hospital!), but we're pretty certain that we can confidently introduce...

Phoebe Joy Scheetz

Phoebe means "radiant" or "bright". The meaning of Joy is obvious, but it means more to us because it's the name of one of the dearest souls you could ever meet.

Psalm 34:5 "Those who look to Him are radiant, and there faces shall never be ashamed."

That's our hope for Phoebe Joy, that she would look to God her whole life.

She has dark hair and blonde eyebrows. Is this normal?
She's very sweet. Seems calm. We'll see if that holds.

And she's totally punk rock.

Oh, and I can say with all confidence that I would have lost my mind without those three standing behind me. In fact, I DID lose my mind about 10 times and they brought me back to reality!!!

Oh...one note. I'm sorry if I'm not making calls. I've slept all of two hours since yesterday morning. It's easier to type than talk. For those of you who I'd normally call, please know we'll catch up soon.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Oh my word, I can't wait to squeeze her (don't worry, I won't expose her to my family's germs, but I WANT TO squeeze her!!!!)

My kids weren't that weight until they were 2 mo old, by the way, HAHA!

CONGRATS!!! So glad she's here. She's beautiful, like her mommy. And I must state here and now that your hair looks fabulous too - probably better than the day last week when you were all set for hospital pictures. :) Enjoy! Can't wait to meet her.

oh, the love!!! thanks, people!

alice-i have been faithfully flat ironing my hair so as to be ready for pictures. i was not ready for a baby, though, as you can tell by the shocked look on my face. i kept asking brent, "is this real? did this just happen?"

neely-LOL on the word verification

Melissa-grill chicken? waste time on the computer? maybe one thing that helped was that i was four days overdue??? i hope you have that baby soon...prefereably during the day when you don't have to go through the ER w/ people wearing masks and coughing and generally FREAKING you out!

jenny-i know. huge. she hardly fits in the newborn diapers. it's kinda hilarious. it's kinda flashing me back to having avery who was just an ounce bigger than her!

oh rach! having book club here TOTALLY crossed my mind. and i can finally have a glass of wine. yeah...so, yeah...c'mon everyone...or just drop off a glass of wine!

sarah! it made me cry to imagine you crying. isn't that just how we are!?! i love you!

glad you like the name, andie! it's the only name that we truly considered...not that we discussed it much. i guess we settled on it in a non-committal way early on.

thanks, tara! would it amuse you to know that brent ACTUALLY brought my ads and coupons to the hospital? he did. be amused.

Dear Jenna and Brent,
Phoebe is absolutely RADIANT!!!!!
She is truly beautiful! I cannot believe how much hair she has! You could literally put it up in a BUN!!! Jenna, you look AMAZING! Seriously, did you really just give birth? You don't even have a hair out of place! I was swollen like I'd been stung by a bee with greasy, flat hair and looked like I just got hit by a truck! You, on the other hand, look like you just had a visit to the SPA!! I cannot believe you have #4!! I still vividly remember when you told me in my kitchen that you were pregnant with Avery! You were on CLOUD 9 and your stomach was CONCAVE and you were SO YOUNG! And, now you have number four! Praise God! Four precious perfect blessings and gifts from above!! Craig and I could NOT be happier for you and Brent! You are both glowing in the picture!! I am truly more honored than I could ever express in words that I share a name with your daughter! I have thought about it all day and am so flattered, honored, touched, privileged, etc. and feel UNWORTHY! I know that with you two as her parents, Phoebe will be a JOY to all who come in contact with her!!! Praise God for her! And, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you both and can't wait to meet Phoebe :)!!

Love,
Joy
