Abraham Piper's 22-word Kid Story Challenge

One phrase I taught my children which has come back to bite me consistently is "Smelt it/Dealt it."

You're right. Some things do sound different when we hear our kids say them.

I used to think "hold your horses" was kind of a cute way of saying, "Be patient," until one of my kids said it to me.
